Ja'Quan McMillian was the hero on defense, snaring an interception from Winston and returning it 46 yards for a game-winning touchdown. Winston finished with 497 passing yards, including a staggering 235 yards to his former team, the Broncos' receiver Jerry Jeudy, setting an NFL record for the most receiving yards against a former team. The Broncos led 31-25 at that point, but Winston, aided by big plays from Jeudy, orchestrated a drive that saw him connect with Nick Chubb for a touchdown, putting the Browns up 32-31 with just under nine minutes remaining. Winston surpassed 400 yards during that drive, marking his fourth touchdown pass of the game.

For years, the Broncos would have struggled to rally from such a deficit, lacking the quarterback play needed for a game-winning drive. But Nix, unshaken, responded with two critical third-down passes to move the Broncos into scoring position. With less than three minutes left, Denver faced a pivotal fourth-and-1.
